MJGUESTReadMe
version 2.0db
Thanx for downloading MJGUEST, your personal and fully customizable guestbook!
FEATURES
MJGUEST 2.0db is an internet guestbook, built in PHP language. Deeply improved since its previous version, MJGUEST 2.0db can store data in MySQL database. Here are some of the NEW features:
REQUIREMENTS
INSTALLATION
Step #1
After downloading MJGUEST self-extracting folder, unzip it and check if everithig is ok: the archive should contain a total amount of 88 files.
If files are missing, please contact mdsjack.
Step #2
Upload the whole folder "as it is" to your web space, don't care about the name of the main folder (originally called "mjguest"), but do not change name to other files or subfolders: this will cause the guestbook not to work properly!
Now, set remote MJGUEST folder permission to full writing (Chmod: 777). If you're not allowed - or you're not able - to change CHMOD, upload MJGUEST folder into your "public" folder.
Step #3
It's time to insert a link to MJGUEST on your website, so copy and paste the code to your webpage:
<a href="javascript:w='606';h='516';guestbook=open('URL','guestbook','width='+w+',height='+h+'');guestbook.moveTo(((screen.availWidth/2)-(w/2)),((screen.availHeight/2)-(h/2)));">Guestbook</a>
Look at the code above: after pasting it to your web page, rember to change the word URL with the url to "guestbook.php" in MJGUEST main folder.
Step #5
Run database.php file, in order to generate the database where MJGUEST stores data and config.
Step #5
Enter the guestbook and open Administrator page: the temporary password is "password", but remember to set a new one once you have logged in.
Administrator Control Panel lets you change guestbook settings. If you leave "admin" page - without logging out - and open "view" page, you will see two new icons, close to each entry: "IP" and "X". Use these to delete entries one by one or check hosts IP addresses.
For safety reasons, password cannot be recovered manually. If you lose your password, select "Password recovery" checkbox: MJGUEST will send you an email containing the password.
